Yes indeed Radiohead as many others these days owe alot to the Factory days...I think ACR were way ahead of their time. No small wonder that Mike Pickering and Simon Topping ended up developing the Hacienda club , bringing real house music from Chicago, NY. Simon himself went to NY for a while to study Latin American purcussion. The album that this tune comes from is awesome..its the pinacle of thier 'sound'.

The Factory label in the time (1979)was a whole (new)wave in itself.

Christ, Radiohead must have spent some time listening to ACR. Good idea. A very under-appreciated band in the States.

There's something mildly disturbing about this video.

Could well be, NW80014. I helped organizing a gig once for a youth center in Holland and OMD came around. They were devestated too that time, after the death of Curtis. They hardly could talk about anything else. Hardly affiliated with Joy Division in music style. Big event by then indeed. |
