I've been guessing at these lyrics for fuckin years now and I'm glad to say I was about 92 percent right!I dont know if this is true but I heard the song is sung from the point of view of a Jamaican sailer talking to a barman(called Louie)about missing his beloved.I must confess that I thought it was about something else but that is the ambiguous beauty of it!It's just one of them tunes that is just cool sounding as fuck !!I love it !!I want this played at my fucking funeral!!

Cool stuff.2 songs we were not allowed to play at a high school dance were Louie Louie and Gloria.Sad but true that the useless government spent hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars to investigate the lyrics.Like there was not more important things that money could of been used for.All they had to do was wait for youtub.lol
