This is GT Countdown's 10 best consoles.#1 Sony PlaystationGreat Strengths: Has two of the best games of all time, Final Fantasy VII, and Metal Gear Solid. The best graphics of it's time. Has a solid controller. Is one of the best consoles for RPGs.Weaknesses: Has one of the worst games of all time, Bubsy 3D.#2 Super NintendoGreat Strengths: Has lots of classics like Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mortal Kombat, Super Metroid, Kirby Superstar, Super Castlevania IV, Killer Instinct, Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, and Starfox. Rareware's Donkey Kong Country saved the console from the Genesis's Blast Processing with it's 32-Bit Graphics. Has some solid peripherals like the Super Advantage, and the Super Game Boy Cartridge. Has astounding RPGs like Squaresoft's Crono Trigger.Weaknesses: Has one of the worst movie-based games of all time called Bebe's Kids.#3 Nintendo Entertainment SystemGreat Strengths: Grew up great franchises like Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Final Fantasy. Is easily the best console of the 8-Bit era. Has an incredible port of Tetris.Has other classics like Contra, Mega Man II, Tecmo Super Bowl, and Double Dragon. Has incredible arcade ports like Donkey Kong.Weaknesses: Has two of the worst games of all time Action 52, and Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde.#4 Sony Playstation 2Great Strengths: Birthed new great franchises like God of War. Continued some of the best franchises like Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear. Has lots of great games including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Resident Evil 4. Continued the great graphics.Weaknesses: Has two of the worst games of all time, Bad Boys: Miami Takedown, and Barbie Horse Adventures.#5 Game Boy AdvanceGreat Strengths: Battery life improvement over the Game Boy. Has thousands of colors for a handheld console. Has lots of great games like the Super Mario Advance Series.Weaknesses: Has one of the worst of all time, Sonic The Hedgehog Genesis.#6 Sega GenesisGreat Strengths: Debut, and great days of Sonic The Hedgehog. Incredible Blast Processing. Has great classics like Mortal Kombat. Has a solid controller.Weaknesses: The Sega CD, and Sega 32X add-ons failed horribly.#7 Nintendo 64Great Strengths: Has classics like Super Mario 64, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Is the perfect party machine for Golden Eye 007. Had a lot of hardware scores like the Rumble Pak in Star Fox 64.Weaknesses: Has a SMALL software library. Has one of the worst games of all time, Superman 64.#8 Game BoyGreat Strengths: Sold over 90,000,000 units. Has a lot of incredible games like Kirby's Dream Land, Tetris, Pokemon, and Super Mario Land. Easily the best handheld console of it's time. Great colors for an early handheld.Weaknesses: Small screen size.#9 Atari 2600Great Strengths: Swated down competiters that offered better graphics, and sound. Has some good classics like "Ka-Boom!". Has some good arcade ports.Weaknesses: Has three of the worst games of all time, which took part of the Video Game Crash of 1983 called, Pac-Man, E.T., and Custer's Revenge.#10 Sega DreamcastGreat Strengths: Has great classics like Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, and Jack Grind Radio. The first console to have online gameplay. Has a new styled controller. Weaknesses: Was short lived.Honors: #83 Best video science and technology (2-13-08)
