Anyone who has drug abuse problems needs psychiatric help because it is a mental health issue and the church of scientology which runs narconon is against that. Also, people have died in the so-called purification rundown given by narconon because they sweat out all of their body fluids then they are given high dosages of niacin and most healthcare professionals will tell you thats not good. Not to mention that extreme dehydration can leave you disoriented thus easily controlled.
