Of course the Star Spangled Banner is going to sound British! It was written during the war of 1812, less than 40 years after we won our independence. We were British before we won our independence, so...yeah...we probably still spoke British English. You cannot expect a nation to change it's whole language, or at least modify it, in just 40 years. Anyways, Whitney sounds amazing! Her rendition is absolutely fabulous, and has always been one of my favorites.

Whitney may now be a "junkie" as you put it, but that she wasn;t when she performed this version. To say she is an unknown is a really ignorant thing to say. Whitney will never go unknown even after her death. She has amazing talent and has won countless awards. Sure, she made very poor decisions after her career, but we all make bad choices in our lives. Don't be the judge.

Nice version of our unsingable national anthem. Personally, I prefer "America the Beautiful." Its lyrics are lovely and we didn't steal its melody from anyone. Unfortunately, in the minds of some people, any criticism of the national anthem is heresy. Nuts to them.

In fact I have never met a Brit who cares whose anthemn it is except to say it's nearly as dismal as ours. Having said that, this rendition is spectacular.
