So... I realized that what happened was the guy in the red on the left forgot to unhook something, so he went out to do it. I think the pilot didn't realize that the guy ran back out and so he tried to take off.. Amazingly he saved the plane and his life/other peoples lives.

damn, that guy in the corner must have been FREAKING THE FUCK OUT! he almost rolled overboard. But to comment on what playboy just said, It looks to me like when the helicopter was getting ready, getting sped up or whatever, since the ship was rocking like it was, it looks like when the ship went into the trough of the swell the helicopter caught some air since the turbines were spinning and then kind of went out of control, you can see it sort of do that the swell before it happened.

"Pilot skill and quick thinking saved the day"? Why is the pilot taking off with man power still under the disc? Why is there a net under the cab? Why have the lashings not been counted off before clearance to launch? Why is the cab taking off towards the super structure and not to port? I do this as a job and the last thing I would do is call it skilled, its pure luck that the rear tail smashed the deck, even then they disengaged the cab with people walking into the disc. Sheer madness!
