dude, carrie is 21 here, the backup singer is prob twice her age with more experience. this was american idol, 3 years ago. with her experience and her vocals beings streched out more now she can wipe the floor with this. anyway, its not only about vocal power its about tone, timbre. carrie's has the purest one. she did at a recent fan club showcase thats on youtube she sings this by herself, flawlessly.

Not vocalist awards....recording industry awards. There are plenty of singers out there better than Carrie. She did do a great job on this song though...one of my favorites throughout all of the seasons. How about that backup singer though? She overpowered her on that chorus. Give THAT woman a record deal!!! They don't have good backup singers like that on the show anymore unfortunately. I'd love to know who that is though...

Where's the charisma? This bimbo has had her passion ripped away by an Oprah addiction and should drag out her own songs to a steady whine. "Alone" is about anticipation of love, not a funeral....
