Again, well spoken. It's not entirely bitterness so much as foreboding for some like me. Every time I see a glowing pop culture display of Obama, the images of all cult of personality (I know I jump the gun when I say "dictators" here) "politicians" throughout history (Stalin, Saddam, Ceauşescu) who've all relied heavily upon positive imagery to maintain their power, harken back into my mind.I did not like McCain. Few of us did, but I voted for him because the media WOULD scrutinize HIM.

Politics is a dehumanizing business. I'm guilty of losing my temper in these little debates. Its too easy to forget that the guy across from you is a voter and a person who has strong beliefs, even if they differ from yours. I don't disagree with your sentiment on free speech. So I say, keep speaking. Don't be bitter about this victory. Keep talking and people will hear you. Getting through the crisis will take both party's sensibilities.

That was admittedly well spoken. The arrogance on my part, however...ehhh...I'll reign it in a little, but I won't ditch it. It's a tool for me, you see, rather than a sub-conscious character flaw.Because I do see people can be better than others, and not just through manners. I see superiority of folks who celebrate and fight for EVERYONE'S free speech as opposed to those who lament and try to restrict those of their opponents'.

I've seen plenty of gracious attitudes on both sides. John McCain made a wonder speech when he conceded the race, and Obama acknowledged him as a tough and worthy competitor. Then too, there are an enormous number of jerkasses on either side. So your supposed superiority depends on the individual, not the party. That said, anyone who openly declares their superiority over someone else most definitely falls in the ranks of the worthless jerks hiding in our parties. Please lose the arrogance.

Oh, bashing Bush has nothing to do with him being a conservative. It has everything to do with him being a terrible president. He listens to no one but himself, he makes no effort to correct a problem when its clearly not working, and he knows nothing of diplomacy. Give me Obama any day of the week. Hell, give me Bush Senior. I didn't agree with him much, but at least he knew how to balance force and diplomacy.
