Thanks. The 2 pages of interviews on Lake's website do not mention any such phone call. (There is an interesting discussion of "Lucky Man," however...)

the only reference is a Greg Lake inteview somewhere in time dating this actuall telephone call shortly after the release of the ELP debut record.... perhaps google will erveal some more info.... I will research this....

Bartók's widow may have had a point if the record was released in Britain or Europe, where copyright protects a longer period of time for music than in the US. Cotillion was a branch of Atlantic, based in New York. BTW, do you have a reference stating when this phone call took place?

Where is th eend of the song??????????????
BombayRepertoire (December 31, 1969 at 5:59 pm)
can you believe that Bartok's wife telephoned Greg Lake from germany asking for a royalty agreement (a hypothetical dialogue): "Mr. Lake, I believe you have my husbands song Allegro Barbaro" Greg Lake: "Oh why yes Mrs. Bartok.... we will make the necessary arrangements."
