Bruce has his place in history but lets just all admit Jackie is the best "living" martial arts actor.

This discussion started when you asked about Bruce's use of stunt doubles. Well there you have it. But when you talk about "realness", keep in mind that Jackie is not only known as the human special effect, but also as one of the men who made the Dragon fly on screen.

"NEVER did bruce lee say ali could beat him"Wrong. There was an interview w/ him in an article about the making of Way of the Dragon. He talked about fighting Ali, and he said something along the lines of "he would beat me, look at these little chinese hands compared to his". I can't remember the title of that article/book, but lots of people are aware that Bruce openly admitted that he would lose to Ali.

"Personalities were never part of the discussion here. It's all about talent, and Jackie is the more talented and versatile of the two" agreed and more entertaining aswell, but as a martial artist id say bruce lee, he spent his life in perfecting his martial arts and its known today and JKD, and thats what his rememberd for, Bruce Lee the extraordinary figher, but yes jackie is more a versatile, although bruce wrote/choreographed and directed aswell, and it was because of bruce that we have JC

NEVER did bruce lee say ali could beat him, the chinese got there top martial artist to fight bruce lee and if he lost, bruce of had to stop teaching, which he didnt. i agree jackie is more versatile but bruce is known for his fighting. if you see his interviews, thats all he talks about, hes martial arts. power and speed thats what bruce was about and thats what he delivered. stunt men were needed in his films to enance it, so what? there was no pretence about what he did.

"its like saying michael jackson is a shit musical artist, just cos u dont like him personally"No, it's like if Michael Jackson had somebody else do the Moonwalk for him. Personalities were never part of the discussion here. It's all about talent, and Jackie is the more talented and versatile of the two (actor, director, choreographer, stuntman, editor, singer, etc...). Bruce saw that talent and hired JC and friends to make himself look good on film.

I believe Bruce Lee himself admitted that Muhammad Ali could kick his ass. The reason he's being regarded as such is b/c he was a huge movie star. You mention realness, well using dummies and stunt doubles to enhance your abilities on film to make people believe that you could do such moves isn't very real. Like I said, JC and friends did those stunts to make Bruce look better on film. |
