I actually do like a hand full metal players. As a rule I don't like metal per se. If you count Zep as early metal than there is an acception. r rhoads was a trip. kinda liked him. took lesons the complete time he was playing with ozzy. skinny as a rail and perfect for rock stardom. big bummer 'bout the early accident resulting in death. Wow! the greats do seem to fall disproportionatelyyoung.

I don't know where I've been and how I missed this in the past, but I just became aware of this song on our local classic rock radio station in Vegas yesterday. Just love it. Still sounds fresh and new. RIP Stevie Ray!!

really? thats interesting. i like metal and blues but i agree most metal players dont have the substance that blues players do: although technically 'better' they lack the amount of soul in blues (with the exception of randy rhoads)

I agree that the improvisational freedom given to blues guitarists allow them to express emotion and gives them a more soulful feel. There is one guitarist who I know personally who uses the best of both techniques-Gary Hoey.

Blues guitarists take the "blue ribbon" for that for sure IMO. Buddy Guy.. Carlos can play the blues . SRV...Jimi... Page and HendrixClapton... MayallBlind Willie n all the old blues men.Elmo James etcBB Maybe we will get "god's" anwser soon?

I'll give you the technicality part. I think Blues guitarist take the prize for the ability to just play what they feel though.
