he is adapting Akira to live action being produced by Leo DiCaprio!Latino Review read the script of the two part film, and said its surprisingly faithful and very good.

Actually, it doesn't really need a message. Think about something like 'saving private ryan'. That had no 'hidden meaning', despite what some think. It was just a story of what was happeneing at the time.THIS one is similar, by presenting the grim world of our desolate future. It is saddening in its portrayal of isolation, and chilling in its implications of our future. There was so much to the film visaly that it becomes a submertion into the world for the viewer, so 5/5 for me.

The story? It's a future war. The message? No hope. Watch the end and listen to what he says: "someone will come". Nobody but death is coming for them ( death being the robot sentry or whatever it is). That is the message. It's not a feature length film so it doesn't have much more than that. It's just one single situation. Anyways, I hear this guy's gonna direct the new Akira live action. I have a little more hope knowing that. You'd better not fuck up my movie Robinson.

So? Where's the story? Where's the message? Good visual effects... but... is not the work of a director make some message with the images? It would be a good advertisement for a game like Gears of War or so.

thought it was the most boring thing ive seen in a while, wasnt leading anywhere...didnt lead anywhere. turned an interesting idea at first into a movie moment in a computer game. It could have done with some pace as well, would have saved it from the cliches.i cant believe in the first place that they are making an akira live action, but then to make it worse and by all means predictable they are getting this guy to make it.

I don't know if there's even a script out there yet. It's hard to know what the eventual film will be like.

But the characters are still supposed to be Japanese. Or so I heard. Neo-Manhattan was rebuilt with japanese money or something.

"He's a VSFX guy who doesn't understand acting, and that really worries me."For a short film, with them little to really do, tell me how you came to the conclusion that he doesn't 'understand acting'? What you said is rather baseless don't you think?

Ruairi Robinson wouldn't have been a bad choice to do the new Terminator film either maybe. McG seems to be making a go of it though. The best filmakers might be the ones who know how to use their budget best perhaps, amibtious and he didn't over extend what he had here and made it look great. It's the same with T2 and Jurassic Park that that still outclass many CGI fests that look awful today by comparison. As long as the directors have taste it's an amazing tool. |
