3 months later.... Anyways, I researched this so called pledge, and it was actually just the checking of a box on a nomination form. I'd rather have him use money from people who support him, then taking my tax dollars to do it. Especially if it's somebody I don't agree with. Would you be happy if your tax dollars helped him get elected.

lithium72990...............Then why did he pledge/promise to use taxpayer funds????? He must have had a reason at the time. The reality is that he broke his promise. It doesn't matter that you don't understand what the big deal is. This guy is supposed to be about "change" and "hope". What he has shown us hear is that he is a man who goes back on his word, and that is a big deal to a lot of people.

Wow, this is some great analysis and reporting, no.....really. lol

That's a good point.

But really, how was he supposed to know he was going to raise half a billion dollars. Again I think this is something that is being blown out of proportion, and furthermore it's retarded that people would be in favor of tax payer funded campaigning.

He went back on his word. He claims to be a reformer, but rather than change an issue, he just runs away from it and doesn't take action. The point is that we're already seeing irresponsible behavior from Obama and we're wondering if ANY of the promises he made in the primaries even holds some legitimacy, or is he saying what he thinks we want to hear - which is what its starting to sound like.

I don't get why this is important, so he didn't use money from taxes to pay for his ads..... this is a bad thing?

Liberals were all for campaign finance when republicans were out raising democrats. Hypocrites.
bennyh12345 (December 31, 1969 at 5:59 pm)
Obama is a hypocrite. Al Gore was the first to use the "Willie Horton" ads.
sergeantnorider (December 31, 1969 at 5:59 pm)
Both of these commentators are idiots. To say that because there are not presently race baiting ads being run by GOP 527's, Obama should opt-in to public financing is exceedingly naive. McCain has no opportunity to win this race unless he goes negative and we all know that means "Willie Horton" type ads (just look at what was done to Harold Ford in the 2006 TN race). Who the hell are you to ask that Obama simply "assume the risk" that GOP 527's wont be making "monkey" ads tomorrow? Grow up. |
