I woke up this morning with the lyrics "my pain is self chosen" running through my head, funny thing is I never was a huge fan of Layne or the bands he was in. Don't get me wrong they are great, but what I am getting at is that I hadn't heard this song in years and even then I never made it a point to memorize the lyrics. I guess this song really did speak to my soul, and my soul spoke to me this morning.

nice to see you people get it, its not about trashing the previous guy who left a message its about knowing the genius of layne and the soul, probably too much soul for his own good. this song will be played at my funeral for sure. gives me chills everytime i hear it. "a headfull of lies is the weight, tied to my waist" thank you layne for everything you have written and inspired -

My pain is self-chosen At least so the prophet says I could either burnOr cut off my pride and buy some timeA head full of lies is the weightTied to my waistThe river of deceit pulls downThe only direction we flow is downDown, oh downMy pain is self-chosenAt least I believe it to beI could either drownOr pull off my skin and swim to shoreNow I can grow a beautifulShell for all to seeThe river of deceit pulls downThe only direction we flow is downDown, oh down
