As for the KZ government, I also think that their initial response was an outrageous overreaction that only made things worse and that they should have just ignored it. But then of course, fucking everything up beyond repair seems to be one of the few things that governments are actually good at.

(continued) their country during the Soviet times. Unlike the other Central Asian nations and some other ex-Soviet nations, after the USSR broke up KZ did not have a massive backlash against those non-native residents in the forms of discriminative and restrictive policies, race riots or religious civil wars. That is why a movie that accuses Kazakhs of being bigoted, racist and anti-Semitic feels like slander to them undeserved, unjustified and completely uncalled for.

'If the movie is the opposite of KZ, why on earth take offence?'Imagine that someone released a movie that accused Britain of being the birthplace of Nazism and the British as the real perpetrators of the Holocaust. I am guessing that British people, especially those of them who actually fought against Nazism, would see that as nothing but slander. Kazakhs take great pride in the tolerance they had towards people of various religious and ethnic backgrounds who were exiled or transeferred to

If you are referring to the anthem that was given in the bonus section of the Borat DVD, then it was the old one, from before 2006. The one in my video is the current one.

would u like your country to be represented by one man like borat?

If this movie really was true, it would be plain sad. Jews killings? Prostitution? Incest? Mocking of country neighbours? If the movie is the opposite of KZ, why on earth take offence? The priceless reaction from the government of KZ, really shows that Sacha B.C. actually depicted KZ correct, because of the selfrightenous. Countries would die for the advertisement Borat gave, and you got it for free. Now, you can prove Borat was wrong, but really, a country that can't take a joke, is intolerant.

It would have been easier to take a joke if the country laughed at really was Kazakhstan. The country in the Borat movie is an almost complete opposite of KZ in all but name, but it still created a completely undeserved reputation for it. As for tourism, even if there are statistics backing up your statement about it going up dramatically, there would still be a question of correlation vs causation, considering the recent rise in marketing and international cultural/educational connections of KZ |
